December 2011 LSAT Scores Released

One of the longest waits for LSAT results is over.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. PST on Wednesday, LSAC began releasing results for the December 2011 LSAT. The exam was conducted on December 3, and LSAT scores were released a stress-filled 32 days later on January 4.

For many, it was worth the wait.

The December LSAT had an extremely lenient curve: -14 for a 170 and -28 for a 160. That means you could have missed 14 questions and still scored a 170, and you could have missed 28 and still scored a 160. So if you remember things not going very well on test day, you probably scored better than you anticipated. Then again, it’s been 32 days. You’ve probably experienced a seesaw of expectations; you’ve talked yourself into believing you scored a 180 and you’ve talked yourself into believing that you forgot to fill in your name on the Scantron.

To put this particular exam’s curve into perspective, the October 2011 LSAT — considered to be one of the most difficult exams in recent memory — had a curve of -13 for a 170. Apparently, December’s LSAT was one notch tougher.

We’re still gathering information as more and more of our students find out their LSAT scores — including the whereabouts of the experimental section. Chime in with your thoughts in the comments. How’d you do?

I did laughably bad. Worse than my diagnostic bad. I don’t know how, either. Guess I’m taking a year off considering I graduate in May :(

    The anxiety is killing me!

  5. Curtis says:

After a two day long anxiety packed battle between me and my gmail account my scores finally came in. Felt rushed on most sections but ended up with a 167 ( a few points lower then practice exams but something I feel will get me in where I wanted). Looking forward to some more info about the exam

Just got my score about an hour ago- 170! I’m very happy with it.

  7. Abbey says:

ughh having the experimental in the first section really threw off my momentum for the rest of the test. still unsure of whether to submit some apps or just take ANOTHER year off.

  8. Eli says:

No score for me yet. It’s 5:38 on the West Coast….

  9. Dana says:

So i did alot worse than I anticipated. I initally was going to take it October but decided I needed more time to study, so I took it in December, and got lower than what I was scoring.

I did mess up on RC, I lost track of time and only was able to finish two passages…(i did the first one and skipped to the last one…which was a monster! and took up all my time)

Either way, I need advice..whether to cram and study and get one on one tutoring and score 165 or higher….

wait until June? June seems so far and I feel like I’m going to loose my motivation.

    What do you guys recommend?

Either way I’m looking for a one-on-one tutors..does anyone know of any that are reasonably priced?

    Thank you!

I did laughably bad also! I got a 159 when I repeatedly scored 166 or better on practice tests. I took a lot if practice tests. I feel cheated! I can’t get into 4 of the schools I already applied to with this crap score. I would’ve looked at entirely different schools if I had known my range would be 7 points lower than my practice tests.

  11. david says:

and the wait is finally over. 175

  12. 3rd time's the charm says:

Wrote twice before and scored both 158.

Scored a 171 this time around.

  13. Katie says:

Didn’t do as well as I planned. Anyone know what an acceptable amount of questions to guess on (ones that I was unable to finish)? Curious on opinions. Majority of questions I missed were due to guessing and I am debating whether it is worthwhile to retake and focus on speed.

  14. MOM says:

I’m bursting my proud buttons for my LSAT taker… 178 at age 18.

  15. Joe says:

I took Kaplan and I will be the first to say that they suck!!!! I scored a horrible 143 I’m getting the LR and LG bibles and writing for the February test. I know it is risky but I have contacted my schools and ask if they would hold my applications.

A 132!!! WHO DOES THAT? WTF!!!!!

  17. Kyle says:

Well, I can’t complain. I managed to tie with my highest practice test with a 169, +12 from my 157 diagnostic. But while I’m satisfied with my score, and I know I probably can’t do any better without another year of study and a whole lot of luck, I’m still dissapointed that I didn’t manage to breach the 170 mark.

Still, i got really lucky… two of the three questions I guessed on I managed to get right.
