Studying for the LSAT is wicked hard. So when you take a prep-course, it shouldn’t be surprising that you spend insane amounts of time both coming to class and doing the homework. It sucks, but it’s necessary. If you want to make your score stand apart from the rest you have to work for it. The people who don’t come to class and don’t do the homework are generally the people who don’t see that big of score improvements. So you can’t fall behind. And there are a few things you can do to help make sure you stay on top of everything.
First of all, plan everything out. Put all your classes in your calendar, and then schedule time to do the homework in between class meetings. It can be hard to make the time to get all the homework done (especially if you work or go to school full-time), so don’t just play it by ear, doing the work whenever you feel like it. If you do, you’ll fall behind. Make a homework schedule, and stick to it.
Also, make sure you come to all the class meetings. During every lesson you’ll learn important new information, so you can’t just sit them out when you don’t feel like going. If you do have to miss a lesson, make sure you make it up. Many courses allow you to sit in on other available classes, or have online versions of the lessons. But you can’t just skip it.
If you do fall slightly behind, catch up as soon as possible. Oftentimes lessons build off each other, so if you haven’t mastered the concepts taught in one lesson, you might not understand the new concepts in the next lesson. That being said, don’t rush it to the point where you don’t understand the concepts fully. You have to make sure that you’re still doing the homework thoroughly, even when catching up. If you do it poorly, then you won’t learn from it and will be mostly wasting your time.
Lastly, give yourself some breaks. You shouldn’t do homework for 10 hours in a day, and you shouldn’t go weeks and weeks without taking a day off. If you totally burn yourself out, then you’ll neither want to nor be able to study. So while you do need to do massive amounts of work, don’t forget to take some time for yourself.
