The February LSAT is in two days, and we here at Blueprint LSAT Prep want you to do your best. LSAC has a bunch of regulations about what you need to bring, what’s chill to bring, and what’s totally verboten (that’s German for forbidden). You should definitely check out LSAC’s Test Day Manifesto. Here are some highlights of the major stuff, as well as some tips:
MUST-HAVE ITEMS TO BRING ON FEBRUARY LSAT TEST DAY
• February LSAT admission ticket with passport-style photo attached
• Government-issued photo ID
• Clear plastic Ziploc bag (one gallon max. size)
All the stuff you bring to your February LSAT test center goes into the clear Ziploc bag, so take it to the max with the one gallon. LSAC recommends that you print out your admissions ticket the night before, since they may make some last-minute changes. Take a look at this list of acceptable common forms of ID. Make sure the information on your admissions ticket is consistent with the information on your photo ID. If it’s not, then you need to get in touch with LSAC to make biographical data changes.
If you’re not sure what qualifies as a passport-style photo, here’s an acceptable passport style photograph and 18 photo fails. It’s your chance to see a happy family stamped with a “No” symbol.
Tip: Places to Get a Passport Style Photo Taken
• Drugstores (CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens)
• Warehouse stores (Costco, Sam’s Club)
• Shipping stores (FedEx Kinkos, UPS)
• Post Office
Call ahead to make sure they offer the service. Make sure to ask about cost and when your photo will be available.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ITEMS TO BRING ON FEBRUARY LSAT TEST DAY
Here is a list of what you should put into that one-gallon Ziploc bag. This is a general, non-exhaustive list so consider what may be individual to you. A lucky troll doll, perhaps? Not judging…well, maybe a little.
• Analog wristwatch
• Pencils (NON-MECHANICAL)
• Water Bottle (20 oz. max.)
Tip: Bring at least 4 or 5 pencils. And, if you have an analog watch with a chronograph feature you can time the 35-minute sections without doing any minute math.
DO NOT BRING THESE PROHIBITED ITEMS ON FEBRUARY LSAT TEST DAY!
Here’s a list of stuff you CANNOT bring into the test center. If you bring any items on this list then, “You’re in big trouble, mister!”
• Electronic timers of any kind
• Mechanical pencils
• Books, dictionaries, papers of any kind
• Digital watches, alarm watches, beeping watches, calculator watches
• Cell phones, pay phones, beepers, pagers, personal digital assistants (PDAs)
• Personal computers
• Photographic or recording devices
• Listening devices
• Headsets, iPods, or other media players
• Ink pens
• Briefcases, handbags, backpacks of any kind
• Weapons or firearms
• Hats/hoods (except religious apparel) may not be worn on the head
Did you catch that? NO HOODIES, even if you’re Donnie Darko. Instead, bring a jacket or a sweater. Also, NO PAPERS of any kind, so make sure you empty your pockets of anything paper or paper-like: receipts, notes from your mother, Zig Zags, etc.
Also, DO NOT BRING ELECTRONIC DEVICES!! If you are discovered bringing any electronic devices into your February LSAT test center you will be dismissed like a cancelled MTV reality dating show. Also, a security cancelation notice will display on reports sent to law schools, and that looks super sketchy.
SOME PARTING WORDS OF WISDOM FOR FEBRUARY LSAT TEST DAY
Give yourself plenty of time to arrive at your February LSAT test center. Make sure you have the address correct and plan an alternate route if there is a road closure. Once you’re at the site, find out where the closest bathroom and water fountain are to the room you’ll be in and try to relieve yourself of any and all bodily waste prior to entering the LSAT test room. Once you’re in there you won’t be allowed to leave until section 1 begins. There are going to coughers, sneezers, lightning fast page-turners, aggressively furious eraser-ers and unnecessarily loud answer bubblers. Ignore them. Only worry about what you can control, which is you. Focus on the question you’re on and do your best! GOOD LUCK!!!
