UPDATE: The LSAT score conversion chart for the October LSAT is at the bottom of the post.
UPDATE: Multiple reports indicate the curve for the October LSAT was -10 for a 170 and -25 for a 160.
UPDATE: At 5 p.m. EST, LSAC began releasing the first batch of October LSAT scores. It should take several hours for LSAC to release all scores.
LSAC is back.
After being shut down for three days due to Hurricane Sandy, LSAC was unable to send out October LSAT scores by its estimated release date of October 31. In fact, LSAC’s Pennsylvania headquarters were running on generator power as of yesterday. LSAC estimated that scores would probably be out by Thursday, or Friday at the latest.
Then just moments ago, LSAC tweeted this:
When is “later this afternoon” exactly? Who knows? The good news is, you’re getting your October LSAT score today.
Of course, it will take several hours for all the October LSAT scores to be released. LSAC will send them out in random batches. Because this is such a rare situation, don’t be surprised if there are some hiccups in delivering October LSAT scores. There’s a chance it could take LSAC longer to release them this round.
Either way, I’ll be updating this post throughout the day. Also, Blueprint LSAT Prep instructor Colin Elzie will write up his reaction to the October LSAT as soon as he gets his hands on a copy of the exam (as well as his LSAT score), so look out for that.
If you get your October LSAT score, let us know how it went in the comments.
Hallelujah! Can’t wait.
So excited… but anxious :)
how much longer?! anticipation is killing me.
I called LSAC earlier and they said they will start releasing scores at 5pm ET.
Thanks Rachel!
Yeah no kidding, thanks Rachel!
Hurry up 5pm ET!
OMG, I cannot be more anxious than I am right now.
This is annoying!!!
so this may be a dumb question, but for us LSAT first time score viewers, is there a typical range of time from when the first score is released to the last?
As an example, every score will have been released typically 6 hours after the first.
Or is it totally variable? I am just wondering if there is the possibility of me waiting up until 11:59pm for this thing.
Yes, it usually takes several hours throughout the day to release scores. Six hours is not out of the realm. It’s hard to say this time around, though, because of the situation LSAC is in. It could take longer than usual.
Rachel, I love you.
I called as well and they said they have already started releasing scores and everyone should have their score by 7pm tonight. Wooo
Jen and Rachel are doing the heavy lifting, well done!
Is that 7pm Eastern time or Pacific time?
Thanks guys!!
the longest wait of my life.
Does anyone actually have their scores yet?
Not yet.
Nope…
not yet
I thought someone said that they called and they already started sending them out and everyone will have them by 7. Is that not true?
Don’t think so.
Anyone else’s head explode yet?
Negative
I just called and they haven’t sent scores yet
I called and they said they would be coming out soon, but they couldn’t say an exact time
Not true i got my score at 4:45 pm est
What… You swear??
Be weary…
Nope scores are out…
UNBELIEVABLY agonizing wait..
My score date just changed to today. That’s gotta be a good sign right??
I just noticed that too
The title and content of this blog post is also a good sign.
yah my friend and I just got our score the scores are out and like I said before 5 pm est
You and your friend both happened to be in the same batch?? Sure
Yup sabbath observer date so no curve folks sorry just score trust me I hate it more wish I could see the sectional breakdown
Right out you hater becca
Actually, if they are grouping the batches by location or testing center, then yes, two friends could receive their scores in the same release batch. All they said was random batches, not random ID’s.
mine did too…..seems like the best sign I’ve gotten from them yet?
What’s the scale?
This thread is actually becoming comical. I’m on the same boat as everyone, no score yet and my heart’s beating 9000x/minute. I’m glad I’m not the only one!
do they just email you the score?? or do you have to check the LSAC website?
Your score will be at your LSAC account. They will email you to let you know when it is ready to view.
What’s the curve
Can someone who has received their score PLEASE tell us what the scale is?
SECOND THAT. PLEASE
What’s the curve?
People who got their scores are saying its a 12 point curve. (Via Twitter)
I’m seeing -10 on Twitter.
Is that a generous or standard curve?
-10 is about average.
Most of the practice tests I took, -10 was about 172…
curve is – 10 per multiple users on other forums
My friend just got his..
No score yet. I think my heart may explode.
It’s -10.. Just got my score.
How about 160
Seconded
169 – 88-89
168- 87
167- 86
166- 84-85
165-83
164- 81-82
163-80
162-78-79
161-76-77
160-75
-10 is NOT what I wanted to hear :-/
Maybe this is a dumb question, but -10? What does that mean
Means you could have missed 10 questions for a 170.
Do you mean a 180?
-10 = 10 wrong for 170
just got mine…no b.s.
I found this on top law schools website that has the scoring scale
http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=197015
curious as to 165 and 160 curve. I would guess -17 and -24/25 respectively.
What is the time dealy between batches?
Not good
I’ve heard that sometimes scores are released during more than one day. Do you think that will happen for this set of scores or not considering they are already a day late?
Only LSAC knows.
160 is -25.
I just got my score back. I got a 171, which I know is a good score, but I’m honestly a little heartbroken because I expected to be in the 99th percentile. I got every single logical reasoning question, but I choked during the games and had to guess on 8 (!) questions. I began studying untimed when I should have been timing myself from the beginning–time on the games section is my weak area, although my accuracy is good.
I studied by myself, no classes, no internet forums or anything, but now I really need advice and don’t know where to turn. Should I retake the LSAT in December? Is a month (realistically doing 4-5 games a night for practice) enough time to speed up my games performance? Has anyone brought their per game time down significantly? What did you do and how long did it take?
171 is really good! You should be proud, I wouldn’t retake if I were you, you can deff. go to a top school with that, congrats!
How many “batches” do they typically release LSAT scores? Is there any order they send them out in (last name, test location, region, etc.)?
Don’t know how many batches. They’re all at random.
Dear GODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
LSP has the scale from 150 to 180
Just got my LSAT score. Curve is indeed -10 for 170, -15 for 166, -5 for 176 and -20 for 163
Scored horribly
This wait is agonizing.
Why do they drag out the release so much, i.e. the batches? I am having a hard time understanding why they can’t just all be released at once.
No one knows but LSAC.
It’s 7:03 and I have no score?!
It takes several hours to release all the scores.
So they’re still on going? I thought it was 5-7pm
Yes, they’re still going and likely will for at least a few more hours.
I got a 171, which is 98 percentile this year- Is that still good enough to safely expect to get into a top 5 school (with a very high GPA), or does being in the 99% make the difference?
Do they release them by testing center location? Or individual scores being released all randomly?
STILL waiting… 7:22…
More like a combo of random locations. A lot of people are still waiting. It’s normal.
still waiting
How can you tell what questions you missed?
I see that LSP has the raw score–>scaled score conversion, but does anyone know a website where a percentile conversion chart is located for this year?
I am waiting as also and am driving my husband nuts checking email and website quite often
Dang,
I was consistently getting 166-68 on my practice exams but I just got my score back: 161
Not sure what happened
Anybody have the answer sheet for the 2 RC LSAT? Mine is blank
Ok how many hours are “several hours”? Is there any possibility that my score won’t be released until like midnight? I’m trying to decide if I should just go out and check my score tomorrow.
I am with ya…this waiting sucks
Whoo!! 157. Not good for some, but I didn’t study, just did the 2007 lsat as a practice test and took it. Got a 154 on my only practice test. lol
