October 2015 LSAT Instant Recap

Huzzah! You’re done with the October 2015 LSAT!

We know that you probably don’t ever want to think about the LSAT again. But before you begin your well-deserved celebrations, take a moment to tell us how it went. What did you think? Were there any surprises? Any sections that seemed particularly hard or easy? Any funny stories from your testing center? We want to hear it all.

An important note: LSAC prohibits us from publishing any big specifics from any LSAT (this includes individual questions/answers, rules for Logic Games, etc.). So if your comment is removed, it most likely violated some kind of rule or was close enough that we didn’t want to risk it. Here’s a pretty good guide for what’s acceptable.

So I got to the testing center and went straight into the room I would take the test in. Little did I know that you are NOT allowed to leave to go to the bathroom once you go in. It’s about 8:10 when I realize this. The test starts at 9:00. My bladder was not looking forward to the next 3 hours. What followed was an increasingly pressing need to pee all over everything, including my fellow test takers. Here I’m thinking, “well, if I have to go I have to go, nothing to be done for it now.” Magically, I held out until the extremely short break during which I faithfully emptied everything I had into the toilet after hopping back and forth on one foot through the 5 minute bathroom line. Needless to say, section 3 was tough, and for only one reason.

I thought one of the Logical Reasoning sections was significantly harder than the other one. Not too many surprises though! And a funny story from the actual LSAT, my twin and I were taking the test together and at the break the proctor came up to us and said reading each others minds was not allowed LOL

The 3rd game in the LG section I found tough. There were deductions to be made but I ended up with 6 scenarios, some did not work though. But this cost me way to much time and I only got to the 4th game with 6 minutes to spare. Luckily it was an easy game but I still think I missed 4-6 overall on the section when I usually miss 1. Seems like everyone had a rough time of it though.

LR seemed to go well though. A lot of necessary questions but none o them crazy hard,

There was this logic game about how a board of directors was set up that was just like….what….no…how do i even…WHAT IS HAPPENING. Fortunately it was the last game in it’s section and it might have been an experimental, but I hadn’t seen anything like it in all my hours of practice. You couldn’t even name the entities, it was so strange. Maybe the super-geniuses got it. There was another very hard one on my second LG section (like I said, first one may have been exp), but at least I could diagram it.

RC was totally fine, but RC has never ever been an issue for me.

One section of LC I just mismanaged my time on completely and wound up guessing 2-3 of them.

    Anyway, beer now.

I had 2 LG sections, and I was dismayed to find after the test that the one that I thought was easier was the experimental. I was unable to finish the real LG section- I found the 3rd game especially hard/time-conusming and this is the one I did last. I had to guess on 4 or 5 questions.

LR wasn’t too bad, I am glad I made a point to understand necessary assp. questions though the week before the test because there were a lot of them. I do not remember seeing a single main point question, anyone else notice this?

RC was ok, the comparison passage was a little harder than usual I thought and there were more long inference questions than usual on RC I thought.

Overall, very unsure how the test went. I am doubting that I hit my best PT score, but I hope the curve is generous and I am not too far below it

    • Same says:

Same, plus the apparently real LG was section 5… Feeling very pessimistic, how much can the curve really bend…(?)

  6. LM says:

^by main point, I meant conclusion questions in LR

  7. Beernow says:

The logic games were a bit more difficult than I expected.
The RC was pretty standard even though I found the last passage a bit confusing to answer.
The LG section with 26 questions became a little challenging towards the end but the other section was pretty routine.

  8. Danielle says:

I’m completely unsure as to how that test went. The LG section was easier than I expected, but I got really tripped up on one of the LR sections (I had three). I’m hoping the hard one was the experimental, but I guess I won’t know until the scores comes out!

I also had the issue that my test monitors started the test before I had finished filling out my name and info on the answer sheet. I know it doesn’t seem like a huge deal, but it definitely messed with my confidence and caused me to start section one a minute or so late, and I remained frizzle frazzled up until the end up the hard LR reasoning section.

  9. Aaron says:

    Hi guys,

I’d like some peer advice…I can’t decide whether to cancel my score. The peeing situation described above happened to me exactly. Also, I felt like I had no idea what the comparison paragraph was talking about…I definitely choked on that and then had to guess on the entire other passage. Then, during the logic games I blew a game and had to guess on a full game. I also had to pee the most during the harder LR section, and I feel like I fell apart at the end. I’ve normally been scoring in the upper 160s, and I feel like I hit a lot lower than that on this test. Any thoughts?

    • Sam says:

Go with your gut. I didn’t cancel my last score even though my gut told me it was going to be a mess… and it was. If there were that many distractions AND you think those distractions took your attention away from the test for enough time for it to matter, I’d cancel.

  10. Lisandra Suarez says:

I think the test was a mix of some very easy sections and some that were very hard. (Expected)
When it comes o RC the strategy that works for me is doing 3 passages, most of which I get correct. As I was going through the section I decided to do passages 1, 2, 4. Skipping 3.
I found a lot of the questions in the cooperative reading section very difficult. There were like 8 of them and they were short but boy did you have to go back and check, very time consuming, I just hope I made the right inferences. As for the rest of the test I found LR very manageable. In the LG sections there were 2 very easy games and the 3rd game was hell. Even trying to do the elimination question took too long for me. I lost a lot of valuable minutes there cause I kept telling myself this is an easy question you have to get it right! Overall, I have no idea what my score could be!!! 3 more weeks, lets hang in there :)

  11. Chelsey says:

My experimental was a LR and I was wondering whether one section had 26 questions or both real sections had 25?

The third logic game tripped me up, causing me to run out out time (I did that one last). No more dreams of Harvard for me!

  12. Allan says:

LR had absolutely no MP questions which was a bummer. One of the games seemed like a pretty tough set up but the rest weren’t too bad.

Toughest part of the day was standing behind the guy in front of me for 15 minutes as he and the proctor debated whether his highlighter was allowed or not. And the fact that I had a mini heart attack each time my proctor screamed as loud as she possibly could “THERE ARE FIVE MINUTES LEFT IN THIS SECTION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

  13. Sarah says:

after I got there the only thing I could really focus on for the first fifteen minutes was the fact some girl came in with a big black bag wayyyy bigger than a gallon and definitely not clear… did I miss something? is this allowed in certain situations?

but for the test itself, I am unsure of how I did overall due to the nerves and stress of everything

  14. Carmen says:

The test held no real surprises for me, I do wish I had put more pressure on myself in regards to timing. When the proctor called 5 minutes, I felt like forgot how to read and/or concentrate. So I had to guess more than I liked and each of my LR sections(I had 3) were 26 questions. In the RC section, the two passage part was difficult and it was the last one which was hard. Minus the third logic game, I would say the other 3 were pretty easy! Once I saw the 3rd game I skipped to the 4th, finished that one pretty quick and went back and had to guess mostly which I hope doesn’t impede my score because I definitely don’t want to have to take it again!

  15. Tara says:

You should report that to the LSAC if you want to retake.
